We know that you have many choices where you can spend your free time.  We are very excited that you have an interest in becoming a volunteer with Baylor Scott & White Health – Austin/Round Rock. 

Each year, our volunteers donate approximately 14,000 hours of service.  Our volunteers include professionals, homemakers, former patients, military personnel, retirees and college students.

Every volunteer plays an integral role in the level of service and care that we are able to provide to our patients, family members and community.

Depending upon current openings, volunteer opportunities are available in the following areas:
  • Admissions/Information Desk
  • Care Cart Service
  • Coffee Service
  • Day Surgery Information Desk
  • Environmental Services
  • Gift Shop
  • ICU Information Desk

Volunteer Requirements

All applicants must be 16 years of age. All volunteer assignments are four hours per week and require a six-month commitment.

The approval of all applicants will be conditional based upon results of all requirements and testing, including:

  • PreCheck background check
  • TB testing
  • Drug screening
  • Flu shot (seasonal)

*All testing is paid for by Baylor Scott & White Health.

Dress Code (No Exceptions)

  • You will be issued a uniform and ID badge at orientation.
  • You must wear your uniform and ID badge during your shift.  Uniforms are expected to be kept neat and clean.
  • Black pants and close-toed shoes are required.  Please do not wear jeans.
  • A replacement uniform or ID badge is at volunteer's expense.
  • Uniforms and ID badges must be returned upon volunteer cessation.

Orientation

  • All prospective volunteers will receive a volunteer handbook for reference
  • All volunteers are required to complete all compliance forms and attend a three-hour orientation with campus tour prior to service
  • There is an annual re-orientation for all tenured volunteers

Patient and family advisors provide a voice that represents all patients and families who receive care at Baylor Scott & White Health. They partner with doctors, nurses and administrators to help improve the quality of our care for all patients and family members.
