Information for patients who self-pay or are uninsured

Self-pay Accounts

Self-pay accounts are patients without insurance coverage. Patients will be required to make payment arrangements for their balance. It is the patient’s responsibility to know if their provider is participating with their insurance plan. If there is a discrepancy with information provided by the patient, the patient will be considered a self-pay until the correct information is provided to Baylor Scott & White Health.

Discount Policy for Uninsured Patients

Baylor Scott & White Health provides a 40 percent discount for patients who do not have health insurance.  We will discount bills for all uninsured patients unless you receive elective cosmetic or flat rate program procedure.  After your bill has been discounted, you will be asked to pay the remaining balance.

If you are unable to pay your bill, we will work with you to set up a payment plan in accordance with our financial guidelines, determine if you are eligible for Medicaid and determine if you are eligible for a financial assistance discount.

Charity adjustments and/or uninsured self pay discounts are not applicable when there is third party liability and are due and payable.
