Scott & White Healthcare named one of the nation's Top Health Systems by Thomson Reuters
CENTRAL TEXAS, Texas – Scott & White Healthcare has been ranked one of the top 100 health systems by Thomson Reuters, one of the nation’s key healthcare rating groups. Scott & White is one of just two health systems in Central Texas to be included on the list, which for the first time this year has divided health systems into three size groups – large, medium and small (based on overall operating expenses). Thomson Reuters' fourth annual Top Health Systems study analyzes operational performance of 321 healthcare organizations, based on leading quality indicators. It appears in the January 16 issue of Modern Healthcare.
The 15 Top Health Systems are listed by category in alphabetical order, along with 49 other health systems that together represent the top quintile of the 321 health systems in the study. Thomson Reuters' study of health systems is part of its 100 Top Hospitals programs. Information sources include two public databases: Medicare Provider Analysis and Review, or MedPAR, and the CMS's Hospital Compare. (Source: Thomson Reuters)
The categories include:
- Large health systems (More than $1.5 billion in operating expenses)
- Medium health systems ($750 million to $1.5 billion in operating expenses)
- Small health systems (Less than $750 million in operating expenses)
"This is recognition that all of us at Scott & White take great pride in because it reflects the tremendous amount of work done throughout our entire system," said Scott & White Healthcare President and CEO, Robert Pryor, MD. "To be listed with some of the country’s premier medical institutions is very rewarding."
The award recognizes health systems that have achieved excellence in clinical outcomes, fewer patient complications, better long-term outcomes, better adherence to accepted care protocols and patient safety standards, shorter hospital stays, and higher patient satisfaction scores.
