Scott & White Sleep Institute re-accredited by American Academy of Sleep Medicine
CENTRAL TEXAS – The Scott & White Sleep The Scott & White Sleep Institute has been re-accredited by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). With this latest renewal, the Scott & White Sleep Institute has been continually accredited since 1984. Patients come to the Sleep Institute for diagnosis and treatment of sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy and other sleep-related disorders.
"This is a stamp of approval which shows that our program is outstanding," said Dr. Carl Boethel, medical director of the Institute. "Accreditation from AASM is the gold standard that patients and physicians look for when considering a clinical provider of sleep medicine."
The AASM is a professional organization dedicated to the assurance of quality care for patients with sleep disorders, the advancement of sleep research, and public and professional education. The Standards for Accreditation ensure that sleep medicine providers perform and maintain proficiency in areas such as testing procedures and policies, patient safety and follow-up, and physician and staff training. Accredited institutions are required to apply for re-accreditation every five years.
"The Sleep Institute staff works very hard, every day, to maintain our high standard, not just to earn the accreditation, but to give our patients the care they expect and deserve," said Dr. Boethel.
The Scott & White Sleep Institute houses the sleep laboratory, sleep therapy clinic and pulmonary rehabilitation programs. As part of an academic medical center, the Institute participates in medical research, along with educating and training the next generation of physicians.
