BRYAN, Texas –  Scott & White Healthcare announced plans to partner with Texas A&M University’s department of landscape architecture in the development of a healing garden on the campus of Scott & White Hospital – College Station.  Students will be asked to develop plans for the garden in late September.  The student submitting the selected design will be awarded a $2,000 scholarship from Scott & White Healthcare, Kitchell Contractors, Jacobs Engineering and ADAMS Management Services Corporation.

"I am extremely pleased that our students and faculty are partnering with Scott & White Healthcare to create a place that will make a difference in the quality of people’s lives, in this case, a place to heal — a healing garden. This is an excellent learning, research, and engagement opportunity for everyone involved, especially for our students," noted Dr. Forster Ndubisi, department head of Texas A&M Department of Landscape Architecture.

"It is always exciting to partner with the students and faculty at Texas A&M University.  We believe that these relationships are just one more way for Scott & White to invest in this community and its future," said Jason Jennings, CEO Scott & White Healthcare – College Station region.

The healing garden will be located between the medical office building and hospital and will open directly onto the infusion center at the Scott & White Cancer Center – College Station.

"When dealing with illness, healing comes in many forms.  It is our hope that this healing garden will bring much comfort to our future patients," said Dr. William L. Rayburn, chief medical officer, Scott & White Healthcare – College Station region.

Through philanthropy, over $350,000 has been contributed by physicians and staff at Scott & White Healthcare in College Station for the Healing Garden.  Fundraising efforts continue for the Healing Garden and the new Scott & White Hospital – College Station. Construction of the garden should be completed in the summer of 2013.  For more information about the future Scott & White Hospital – College Station, visit
