Scott & White Memorial Hospital Welcomes New Chairman of Neurosurgery

TEMPLE, Texas – Scott & White Healthcare welcomes Jason H. Huang, MD, FACS, as the new Chairman for the Department of Neurosurgery. Dr. Huang joins a team of physicians and researchers at Memorial Hospital in Temple as part of the Neuroscience Institute to advance the quality of care for patients dealing with neurological disorders and conditions. Dr. Huang will also serve as a professor of surgery at Texas A&M University Health Science Center College of Medicine and be actively involved in teaching medical students and fellows.

Dr. Huang joins Baylor Scott & White from the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, NY where he served as the Chief of Neurosurgery of Highland Hospital and associate professor of neurosurgery. He also has an active translational research lab studying neurotrauma funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
"Providing the best quality care to help treat neurological disorders is a passion that I have pursued since my residency," said Dr. Huang "By combining research and clinical care, we can find better treatments for conditions such as traumatic brain injuries (TBI), brain tumors, spinal and nerve disorders."
Dr. Huang received his medical degree from John Hopkins University School of Medicine. He completed his residency and also served as Chief Resident of Neurosurgery at The Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
He is board certified by the American Board of Neurological Surgery and serves as a member of a number of national and international academic professional organizations including the American Medical Association (AMA), the American Association of Neurological Surgeons (AANS), the Neurological Society of America, Society of Neuroscience, and the Congress of Neurological Surgeons.
He also served his country as an Army Reservist, deploying in 2008 as a theater combat neurosurgeon in Iraq. In 2012, he was honorably discharged at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
