Scott & White land deal finalized
- Site will be home to new regional medical center -
MARBLE FALLS, Texas – Scott & White Healthcare has acquired 111 acres of undeveloped land that will be the new home for the Lake of the Hills Regional Medical Center.
Located near the intersection of U.S. 281 and TX 71 south of Marble Falls, the site is near the water and sewer lines serviced by the City of Marble Falls water tower. The land, which includes 38 acres of donated property, was purchased from Craig Crossing, LLC and Primos Properties, LLC for an undisclosed amount.
The land acquisition was made independent of the process involving the selection of developers. Scott & White will finalize identification of architects, construction managers, contractors and other participants over the next several weeks/months.
There are four distinct phases of the project leading to completion of the Scott & White Lake of the Hills Regional Medical Center:
- Phase 1 - site development and planning occurs (including selection of the team that will develop the site) and finalizing the project plan to be submitted to the City of Marble Falls. Road widening and utility extensions are required before this part of the project is considered complete. Recruitment of specialists to staff the medical campus will continue during this phase.
- Phase 2 - construction begins on the new clinic, which will provide specialty and diagnostic services. An urgent care center will also be established.
- Phase 3 - construction begins on the hospital facility
- Phase 4 - further expansion will occur as necessary
“The timetable for opening the new hospital is tied to successful completion of each of these phases,” said Pat Currie, Chief of Hospital Services for Scott & White. “It is our hope that we can begin construction on the clinic in July 2011, with a projected completion date of August the following year.”
Scott & White partnered with the City of Marble Falls and Llano Memorial Health System in 2007 on plans to build a full-service major medical center to serve the Hill Country region. An earlier agreement to acquire property and make improvements to that land was terminated because the owner/developer had not completed the necessary improvements outlined in the agreement.
The medical campus will consist of the clinic building for physicians and a hospital facility with 60 beds and more than 175,000 square feet of space. The design of the hospital allows for adding space and beds as future needs demand. The list of services in the plan include a 24-hour urgent care center, cardiac services, operating rooms, maternity services suites, endoscope procedure suites, cancer services, and a variety of other specialty services, all supported by comprehensive state-of-the-art imaging technology and other diagnostic services.
