Pat Currie becomes President and Chief Operating Officer of Baylor Scott & White Health Central Texas
TEMPLE, Texas – Pat Currie has been named president and chief operating officer (COO) of Baylor Scott & White Health Central Texas, a division of Baylor Scott & White Health. Baylor Health Care System and Scott & White Healthcare merged their two systems in October 2013 thereby creating the largest not-for-profit health care system in the State of Texas with 43 hospitals, more than 500 patient care sites, more than 6,000 affiliated physicians, 34,000 total employees and the Scott & White Health Plan.
Currie has served as COO of Scott & White Healthcare since 2004.
"I am very excited to work more closely with Baylor and be a part of assuring the success of this merger," said Currie. "I have been a part of the growth and transformation of this historic system for almost ten years, and I look forward to being involved in its continued development."
In her new role, Currie will continue to work closely with Glen Couchman, MD, chief medical officer (CMO) of Baylor Scott & White Health Central Texas, to lead the region’s day-to-day operations. In the Dyad Leadership Partnership model of the integrated health care system, she and Dr. Couchman will provide leadership for the hospitals and partner hospitals, as well as all of the clinical services and clinic locations across the region.
Bob Pryor, MD, now President, COO and CMO of Baylor Scott & White Health, will remain the President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Scott & White Healthcare.

Currie is a 30-year veteran of the health care industry. She came to Scott & White in 2004 following seven years as CEO of Spring Branch Medical Center in the Houston area.
"By starting her career in clinic administration and then through spending 17 years as a medical center CEO, she has developed expertise that will help to ensure that the accessible, quality health care our communities and patients value will continue to be delivered in this area," said Dr. Pryor.
Currie earned a graduate degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. Currie spent more than 20 years in health care administrative and executive positions in and around Houston, including at the Macgregor Medical Clinic, Rosewood Medical Center, and Spring Branch Medical Center. She is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Industry positions have included membership in the American Hospital Association Regional Policy Board 7 and the Texas Hospital Association Council on Policy Development.
