McLane Children’s Hospital Scott & White receives a $200,000 gift from CEFCO and Fikes

CENTRAL TEXAS - McLane Children’s Hospital Scott & White has received gifts that total $200,000 for program enhancements. The funds come from CEFCO Convenience Stores’ customers and employees, and James and Kim Fikes, CEFCO owners.

CEFCO raised $150,000 for McLane Children’s during their annual Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) fundraising campaign in March and April 2011. Additionally, James and Kim Fikes, CEFCO owners, made a personal donation of $50,000. The money is being used to purchase new security equipment.

“The CEFCO Convenience Store organization has taken great pride in our support of CMNH, and how it helps provide desperately needed funds for local pediatric hospitals,” said James Fikes, owner of CEFCO Convenience Stores. “And as a family, we are honored to provide the additional funding needed for new equipment purchases at McLane Children’s.”

CMNH is a non-profit organization dedicated to saving and improving the lives of children by raising funds for children’s hospitals across North America.

“Gifts like this elevate the level of care we can provide,” said John Boyd III, M.D., CEO and chief medical officer for McLane Children’s Hospital Scott & White. “We give great care at McLane Children’s, but technology is constantly improving, and it often takes new funds to acquire cutting-edge equipment.”

McLane Children’s encompasses 112 inpatient beds -- 48 private rooms and 16 Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) rooms at McLane Children’s Hospital Scott & White, with another 48 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) rooms at Scott & White Memorial Hospital. McLane Children’s has been designed to support staff in delivering family-centered care in a healing and secure environment for the pediatric patient.
