Interim leadership named to Scott & White Hospital - Brenham
COLLEGE STATION, Texas – Scott & White Healthcare has appointed an interim leader to manage the system’s hospital and clinics in Brenham, following the announcement last month of the retirement of long-term Chief Executive Officer John Simms.
Jason D. Jennings, FACHE, chief executive officer (CEO) of the Scott & White Hospital - College Station (currently under construction) and region chief operating officer (COO) of the Scott & White clinics in College Station, will oversee operations in Brenham beginning in August. With this expanded role, Jennings assumes the position of CEO of Scott & White College Station Region hospitals and COO of the Scott & White College Station Region clinics. He was officially named to the interim appointment following approval by the Scott & White Hospital - Brenham Board of Directors.
"Mr. Jennings’ regional role and past experience in hospital operations will provide the expertise that can facilitate a smooth leadership transition," said Board Chairman Tommy Ladewig.
"John Simms has devoted more than 30 years of service to this hospital and community, and that cannot be replaced," said Pat Currie, chief operating officer of Scott & White Healthcare. "But with John’s help and under the advisement of the Board, we’ve put a transition plan into place that should maintain a level of stability in which our patients and the public can have confidence."
To prepare for the transition, Jennings will work to familiarize himself with the Brenham hospital’s operations, the hospital leadership team and key community leaders beginning July 1. Following a period of review and evaluation of the hospital’s organizational structure and needs, Jennings will coordinate the search for a new leader for the Brenham facility, to be aligned under his leadership.
"I am grateful to have the support of John Simms as we work in tandem to insure that the changeover is seamless," said Jennings. "I look forward to working more closely with the hospital and clinic staff as well as the Brenham community."
