Understanding Chronic Lung Disease

Scott & White Pulmonary Rehabilitation

Chronic lung disease is a general term for several diseases such as COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), emphysema, asthma, cystic fibrosis, lung cancer, pulmonary hypertension, pre/post lung transplant, or other obstructive and/or restrictive lung diseases.

Your provider may have requested tests to learn more about your lungs for a diagnosis. Based on the tests, you and your provider can discuss a treatment plan specifically for you.

Your individualized prescribed treatment plan will include many options such as medications, oxygen therapy, and breathing retraining. Your provider may also refer you to pulmonary rehabilitation to improve your quality of life.
