The Nutrition Service Group at Scott & White Healthcare operates both an outpatient clinic and an inpatient hosptial consultative service covering the complete array of nutritionally related issues.

The nutrition service provides:

• Educational support concerning a variety of issues ranging from proper eating habits, to genetic diseases requiring specific nutritional guidelines (such as Celiac Sprue)
• Evaluation, placement , and management of feeding tubes
• Professional and technical support for those requiring short and long-term tube feeding
• Professional and technical support for patients needing short and long-term Continuous Parenteral Nutrition (i.e. intravenous nutrition)
• Evaluation and management of malnourished hospitalized patients
• Malnourishment resulting from severe illness including those dealing with cancer and undergoing chemotherapy
• Dysphagia/Odynophagia (Difficulty/painful swallowing)
• Management of unintentional weight loss
• Pre-surgical and Post-surgical nutrition support
