What is an endocrinologist?
Endocrinologists are physicians who study and treat problems with the glands. Endocrinologists are internal medicine physicians who have completed specialized training to treat these problems. Endocrinologists see patients in the clinic and hosptial and offer an electronic consultation service.
Why would I want to see an endocrinologist?
People see endocrinologists for a variety of reasons. The most common reasons include diabetes, thyroid diseases, metabololic disorders, menopause, osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease, hypertension, and lipid disorders.

The Scott & White Lipid Clinic and Comprehensive Lifestyle Management program serves as referral centers for patients with endocrine disease and offers intensive education programs for patients suffering from diabetes.
Scott & White Diabetes Education Center
The Scott & White Diabetes Education Center provides a variety of programs and services for individuals with diabetes and their families.
The center is located in the Scott & White Center for Diagnostic Medicine building at the corner of 31st Street and Avenue R in Temple.
For individuals with type 2 diabetes and their families, classes are offered:
- Four days a week
- An option of morning, afternoon or evening times
- A total of four classes over a six month period
In addition, a diabetes support group meets in the same location on the last Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m.
