Infusion Therapy

As part of our nursing services, Scott & White Home Care provides home infusion therapy, a means of supplying patients with necessary treatment and intravenous (IV) medication. Once a referral is made and insurance benefits are verified, patients usually begin receiving our services within 48 hours.

Typical patients receiving home based infusion therapy are diagnosed with:

  • Bone/joint infections
  • Bacteremia
  • Cellulitis
  • Pneumonia
  • Cystic fibrosis exacerbations
  • Short bowel syndrome

Our infusion services also include lab monitoring and physician consultations. We verify the orders and lab results with the referring physician and maintain open communication by phone. Currently, patients receiving infusion therapy must be followed by a Scott & White Healthcare staff physician. For questions regarding patient eligibility or further assistance, please call 800-299-2033 .

Family Education

In keeping with Scott & White Home Care's dedication to family involvement and education, once enrolled in our Infusion Therapy service, personal and family instruction is delivered by a nurse in the patient's home. Patients currently admitted to Scott & White Memorial Hospital in Temple have the added benefit of receiving personal and family education prior to hospital discharge.

Patients and caregivers are taught:

  • The types of medication(s) prescribed and their purpose;
  • Aseptic technique (practice of maintaining sterile conditions to prevent infection);
  • How the medication is to be administered and stored; and
  • How to use any needed equipment/supplies.

For questions regarding patient eligibility or further assistance, please call 800-299-2033 .
