Wilson Valley Loop
23.06 miles on course map with shorter 9, 12 and 18 mile distances available

Group paces include: Leisure (12-14mph), Moderate (14-17mph), Fast (18+ mph)

Course: This ride begins at Lion's Park at the playground parking lot and features small rolling hills and decent roads in a mostly rural area. Traffic is light, except for the three brief sections on Hwy 93. Care should be taken on these sections since Hwy 93 is very busy, especially in the evening.

Ride information: The group ride leaves promptly at 5 or 6 p.m. depending on the time of year and the time that the sun sets [currently leaves at 6 p.m.]  All levels of riders participate. There are several riders who use this ride as hard training or race simulation, so a faster group is available. Otherwise, cyclists ride at a leisurely to moderate pace completing distances of 9 up to 23 miles.

McLane's Parkway Circuit

Group paces include: Fast, Race Simulation (18+ mph)

Course: This circuit features a small climb, small rollers and smooth roads. Traffic is light except for Loop 363, where care should be taken. This course is occasionally used by club racers for fast training to simulate racing a circuit or large crit.

Ride information: It is sometimes used in place of the regular Tuesday ride, in which case it starts at 5 or 6 p.m. depending on the time of year [currently starts at 6 p.m.]  This is a fast training ride to simulate racing.

9 Mile Beginners' Ride

Group paces include: Beginner (9-12mph)

Course: This ride is very flat and takes you from Lions Park to the Shell Station at the junction of Hwy 93 and I-35. The ride is mostly traffic-free, making it a great place to experience your first ride. This ride is done at a slow pace - anywhere from 7-12 mph depending upon the wind.

Ride information: The Beginners' Ride starts at Lion's Park at the parking lot off of the road that goes down to the pavilion. The group leaves at 6 p.m. This ride is a 'no-drop' slow ride, meaning that no one gets left behind without someone else to ride with. It's the perfect place to get started in the sport of cycling!


18 Mile Beginners' Ride

Group paces include: Beginner (9-12mph)

Course: This route leaves from Lions Park and covers some of the routes used on the Saturday Morning and Tuesday Night rides. The course is mostly flat; however, it does have a few hills, making it a better route for beginers who are not riding for the very first time, or who are in better shape. The ride speed varies between a 12-14mph average depending upon the weather and group.

Ride information: The Beginners' Ride starts at Lion's Park at the parking lot off of the road that goes down to the pavilion. The group leaves at 6 p.m. This ride is a 'no-drop' slow ride, meaning that no one gets left behind without someone else to ride with. It's the perfect place to get started in the sport of cycling!

Ride information: The Saturday morning ride begins at Lion's Park at the swimming pool parking lot. The group leaves at 7, 8 or 9 a.m. depending on the time of year [currently leaves at 8 a.m.]. All levels of riders participate and shorter routes are available. In general, the ride is usually slower than the Tuesday night ride. Usually, several smaller groups form depending on the speed and distance desires of the riders. Routes are determined by each group and may depend upon wind direction (headwind out; tailwind back). Below are several routes that are regularly ridden on Saturdays including the Taylors Valley route above. Each map shows the longest distance for the ride, but several turnoffs are available for shorter routes.


Turkey Farm Ride

Course:  This beautiful ride features rolling hills and rural roads. The course is mostly rolling and can be very windy along Armstrong Road. Most of the hills are small (no more than 300m long) and not overly steep. However, Armstrong Road features a gradually rising hill of about a mile in length and the general trend of Armstrong Road heading south is uphill. Royal Street features most of the significant rollers. However, none of them are overly steep. The ride is mostly traffic-free, except for the relatively brief sections along Hwy 93, which can see heavy traffic.

Lion's Park - Pendleton - Lion's Park
42.62 miles

Course: This is a mostly flat and windy course that utilizes rural-suburban back roads. Although there are a few small rollers, the course does not have any major hills. The brief sections on Hwy 93, Midway Drive, Hwy 53 and Loop 363 feature more traffic. Care should be taken in these sections. However, Hwy 53 and Loop 363 feature wide shoulders.

Lion's Park - Heidenheimer - Stringtown Rd - Hwy 36 - Lion's Park
44.2 miles

Course: This course features long flat sections, challenging hills and sections of rough roads. The course is especially good in the winter months when building up for the spring racing season. The brief sections on Hwy 93 and the sections on Hwy 36 feature more traffic. The rest of the roads are rural with light traffic.

Lion's Park - Belton - Paddy Hamilton - Indian Ridge - Dana Peak - FM 2410 - Lion's Park
39.45 miles

Course: This course features long flat sections, rolling hills and the longest, sustained steep hill in the county. After leaving Belton, most of the course is rolling hills. The turn-around point atop a large hill features some of the best views of Stillhouse Hollow Reservoir. The hill to the top is around 380m long and averages 10 percent grade with sections of 13 percent. This is also a great place to do hill repeats to prepare for racing in hilly or mountainous terrain. The brief section on Hwy 93 and the sections through Belton have the most traffic. There is a shoulder on W. Second Avenue and Sixth Street is a four-lane road. Care should be taken on Main Street in Belton.
