Same-day Anterior Total Hip Replacement

Baylor Scott & White Medical Center – Round Rock is the first hospital in the Central Texas region to offer same-day anterior total hip joint replacement to qualifying patients.

Our team approach and experience with more than 800 anterior total hip surgeries allow us to customize and optimize recovery from surgery for each patient. We send patients home at the optimal time for them — including the same day. The key is making sure patients are confident, comfortable and safe to go home.

What Is an Anterior Total Hip Replacement?

During an anterior hip replacement, an orthopedic surgeon reaches the hip by working through natural openings between muscles. By not having to cut the muscle tissue with this approach, there is typically decreased pain and faster recovery for the patient.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 300,000 total hip replacements are performed annually in the U.S. Hip replacement removes and replaces diseased parts of the joint. The surgery’s goals include increasing mobility, improving the function of the hip joint and relieving pain.
