About the Department of Orthopedics
With more than a dozen fellowship-trained surgeons, the Scott & White Department of Orthopedics offers you expert subspecialty orthopedic care — with a compassion and understanding that separates us from the fold.
A Multidisciplinary Orthopedics Team
The orthopedic team at Scott & White includes physicians with special training in sports medicine, spine surgery, hand surgery, joint replacement, foot and ankle surgery, pediatric orthopedics, orthopedic trauma and spine. Their highly-developed procedures are made possible through advanced training combined with the latest in digital imaging, computer assisted surgery and a comprehensive rehabilitation program that Scott & White offers.
The team also includes specialists in physical medicine & rehabilitation, podiatry, physical and occupational therapy, and rheumatology.
The field of Orthopedics has seen countless advances in recent years.
- Joint replacement capabilities have expanded to include elbows, wrists and ankles.
- Advances in spinal instrumentation now allow for the correction of debilitating deformities.
- Procedures that previously required large incisions are being performed with minimally-invasive techniques.
At Scott & White, the Department of Orthopedic Surgery has kept abreast of this progress by recruiting staff who are focused on these subspecialty areas.
Research and Innovation
The department is proud of its expertise and is maintaining its state-of-the-art vision. Orthopedics is instrumental in developing new implants for joint replacement and care of fractures, as well as participating with the Texas A&M University System Health Science Center in research to gain knowledge of the interaction between cellular proteins and the body’s ability to repair itself.
