Care After

These instructions give you information on caring for yourself after your procedure. Your doctor may also give you more specific instructions. Call your doctor if you have any problems or questions after your procedure.

HOME CARE

  • Do not drink alcohol for 24 hours.

  • Do not drive or use public transportation for 24 hours.

  • Do not sign important papers for 24 hours.

  • Have someone with you for 24 hours.

  • Keep eating and doing activities as normal.

  • Change any bandages (dressings) as told by your doctor.

  • Do not douche or have sex (intercourse) until your doctor says it is okay.

GET HELP RIGHT AWAY IF:

  • You have a rash.

  • You have trouble breathing.

  • You have a reaction or have side effects from your medicines.

  • You have redness, puffiness (swelling), or more pain in the wound area.

  • You have yellowish-white fluid (pus) coming from the wound or bandage.

  • You have a fever.

  • You have a bad smell coming from your wound or bandage.

  • Your wound opens up after your stiches (sutures) or staples are removed.

  • You have more belly (abdominal) pain.

  • You have a lot of bleeding from the vagina.

  • You have pain in your shoulders and chest.

  • You feel dizzy or pass out (faint).

  • You keep feeling sick to your stomach (nauseous) or throw up (vomit).

MAKE SURE YOU:

  • Understand these instructions.

  • Will watch this condition.

  • Will get help right away if you are not doing well or get worse.
