Care After

These instructions give you information on caring for yourself after your procedure. Your doctor may also give you more specific instructions. Call your doctor if you have any problems or questions after your procedure.

HOME CARE

  • Only take medicine as told by your doctor. Do not take aspirin. Aspirin increases the risk of bleeding.

  • Rest. You may feel tired for a while.

  • Eat soft and cold foods, such as ice cream, frozen ice pops, and cold drinks.

  • Avoid mouth washes and gargles.

  • Avoid people with colds and sore throats.

GET HELP RIGHT AWAY IF:

  • You develop a rash.

  • You have trouble breathing.

  • You have any allergy problems.

  • You have increased bleeding, you throw up (vomit), or you cough or spit up bright red blood.

  • You have increasing pain that is not controlled with medicine.

  • You have a temperature by mouth above 102° F (38.9° C), not controlled by medicine.

  • You feel lightheaded or pass out (faint).

MAKE SURE YOU:

  • Understand these instructions.

  • Will watch your condition.

  • Will get help right away if you are not doing well or get worse.
