Sterile Tape Wound Closure

Your cut has been cleaned and closed with sterile tapes. These tapes act as stitches. Try to keep the area around your cut clean and dry. If the tapes become wet or soaked with blood before the wound has healed, they will need to be replaced. Please wear a dressing to protect your injury while you are at work. You may need a tetanus booster if you have not had one in the last 5 years.

The tapes will wear off naturally as the wound heals. If they do not, remove them gently after 10 days. See your doctor or return here at once if you think your wound is infected. Signs of wound infection are:

  • Unusual redness or swelling around the cut.

  • Increased pain or tenderness.

  • Pus drainage.

  • Red streaks going up the arm or leg.
