Peripheral Nerve Problems

Peripheral nerve disorders are problems with the nerves in your arms or legs.

CAUSES

There are many different causes of these disorders. They include:

  • Injury.

  • Diabetes.

  • Chronic alcoholism.

  • Toxic chemicals and drugs.

  • Vitamin deficiencies.

  • Tumors.

  • Liver or kidney diseases.

SYMPTOMS

Some of the problems caused are:

  • Tingling, burning, pain, and numbness in the extremities and feet.

  • Weakness, loss of muscle tone, and size.

DIAGNOSIS

Sometimes blood tests and studies to examine nerve function are needed to make the diagnosis.

TREATMENT

Sometimes peripheral nerve problems can be treated with vitamins, medication, and avoiding known toxins such as alcohol. Please make a follow-up appointment to be sure you are getting better with treatment.
