Emergency Department Screening Exam
A medical screening exam helps find the cause of your problem. This exam also helps determine if your problem requires treatment right away. Your exam has shown that you do not require immediate emergency treatment. It is safe for you to go to your caregiver's office or clinic for treatment. Plans may have been made for you to be seen by your regular caregiver today.
Patients must be treated in an emergency department regardless of their ability to pay. You can decide to stay and receive continued treatment in the emergency department. Some insurance plans may not cover the cost of this service. In some, but not all, states in the U.S., the hospital and/or your caregiver might bill you directly for your evaluation and treatment in the emergency department.
If your condition worsens or changes in any way, return for re-evaluation or you may go to your caregiver's office or clinic for treatment.
