Nail Avulsion Injury
Nail avulsion means that you have lost the whole, or part of a nail. The nail will usually grow back in 2 to 6 months. If your injury damaged the growth center of the nail, the nail may be deformed, split, or not stuck to the nail bed. Sometimes the avulsed nail is stitched back in place. This provides temporary protection to the nail bed until the new nail grows in.
