Jock Itch

Jock itch is a germ infection of the groin and upper thighs. The type of germ that causes jock itch is a fungus. It is itchy and often feels like it is burning. It is common in people who play sports. Sweating and wearing certain athletic gear can cause this type of rash.

HOME CARE

  • Take your medicines as told. Finish them even if you start to feel better.

  • Wear loose-fitting clothing.

  • Men should wear cotton boxer shorts.

  • Women should wear cotton underwear.

  • Avoid hot baths.

  • Dry the groin area well after bathing.

GET HELP RIGHT AWAY IF:

  • Your rash is worse or spreading.

  • Your rash returns after treatment is finished.

  • Your rash is not gone in 4 weeks.

  • The area becomes red, warm, tender, and puffy (swollen).

  • You have a fever.

MAKE SURE YOU:

  • Understand these instructions.

  • Will watch your condition.

  • Will get help right away if you are not doing well or get worse.
