Intertrigo

Intertrigo is a skin irritation (inflammation) that happens in warm, moist areas of the body. It happens mostly between folds of skin or where skin rubs together.

HOME CARE

  • Keep the affected area cool and dry.

  • Leave the skin folds open to air.

  • Put cotton or linen between the folds of skin.

  • Avoid tight clothing.

  • Wear open-toed shoes or sandals.

  • Use powder on the affected area as told by your doctor.

  • Only use medicated creams or pastes as told by your doctor.

GET HELP RIGHT AWAY IF:

  • The rash does not get better after 1 week of treatment.

  • The rash gets worse.

  • You have a fever or chills.

MAKE SURE YOU:

  • Understand these instructions.

  • Will watch your condition.

  • Will get help right away if you are not doing well or get worse.
