Hand Dermatitis

ExitCare ImageHand dermatitis is a skin problem. Small, itchy, raised dots or blisters appear on the palms of the hands. Hand dermatitis can last 3 to 4 weeks.

HOME CARE

  • Avoid washing your hands too much.

  • Avoid all harsh chemicals. Wear gloves when you use products that can bother your skin.

  • Use medicated cream (1% hydrocortisone cream) at least 2 to 4 times per day.

  • Only take medicine as told by your doctor.

  • You may use wet cloths (compresses) or cold packs.

GET HELP RIGHT AWAY IF:

  • The rash is not better after 1 week of treatment.

  • The area is red, tender, or yellowish-white fluid (pus) comes from the wound.

  • The rash is spreading.

MAKE SURE YOU:

  • Understand these instructions.

  • Will watch your condition.

  • Will get help right away if you are not doing well or get worse.
