Euglobulin Lysis Time

This is a blood test to determine how quickly a blood clot will break up and dissolve.

PREPARATION FOR TEST

No preparation or fasting is necessary.

NORMAL FINDINGS

  • Greater than 2 hours.

  • Possible critical values less than 1 hour, indicating excessive danger of bleeding.

MEANING OF TEST

Your caregiver will go over the test results with you and discuss the importance and meaning of your results, as well as treatment options and the need for additional tests if necessary.
