ExitCare ImageThese instructions give you information on caring for yourself after your procedure. Your doctor may also give you more specific instructions. Call your doctor if you have any problems or questions after your procedure.


  • Take it easy for the next 24 hours.

  • Rest.

  • Walk or use warm packs on your belly (abdomen) if you have belly cramping or gas.

  • Do not drive for 24 hours.

  • You may shower.

  • Do not sign important papers or use machinery for 24 hours.

  • Drink enough fluids to keep your pee (urine) clear or pale yellow.

  • Resume your normal diet. Avoid heavy or fried foods.

  • Avoid alcohol.

  • Continue taking your normal medicines.

  • Only take medicine as told by your doctor. Do not take aspirin.

If you had growths (polyps) removed:

  • Do not take aspirin.

  • Do not drink alcohol for 7 days or as told by your doctor.

  • Eat a soft diet for 24 hours.


  • You have a fever.

  • You pass clumps of tissue (blood clots) or fill the toilet with blood.

  • You have belly pain that gets worse and medicine does not help.

  • Your belly is puffy (swollen).

  • You feel sick to your stomach (nauseous) or throw up (vomit).


  • Understand these instructions.

  • Will watch your condition.

  • Will get help right away if you are not doing well or get worse.
