Chlamydia, Female

Chlamydia is an infection caused by a certain type of germ (bacteria). The germs are spread from one person to another person during sexual contact. This infection can be in the cervix, urine tube (urethra), throat, or bottom (rectum). This infection needs treatment.

HOME CARE

  • Take your medicines (antibiotics) as told. Finish them even if you start to feel better.

  • Only take medicine as told by your doctor.

  • Tell your sex partner(s) that you have chlamydia. They must also take medicine.

  • Do not have sex until your doctor says it is okay.

  • Rest.

  • Eat healthy. Drink enough fluids to keep your pee (urine) clear or pale yellow.

  • Keep all doctor visits as told.

GET HELP RIGHT AWAY IF:

  • Your problems return.

  • You have a fever.

MAKE SURE YOU:

  • Understand these instructions.

  • Will watch your condition.

  • Will get help right away if you are not doing well or get worse.
