Breast Sonogram

This is an ultrasound of the breast to help determine whether a lump in the breast is a cyst (a fluid-filled sac), a solid tumor or a growth. It can help determine whether a tumor is benign (non-cancerous) or cancerous. It can also help locate a small nodule in the breast that can not be felt so that it can be localized for removal during surgery.

Your caregiver will go over the test results with you and discuss the importance and meaning of your results, as well as treatment options and the need for additional tests if necessary.

OBTAINING THE TEST RESULTS

It is your responsibility to obtain your test results. Ask the lab or department performing the test when and how you will get your results.
