Botox® Cosmetic Injections

Care After

Refer to this sheet in the next few weeks. These instructions provide you with information on caring for yourself after your procedure. Your caregiver may also give you more specific instructions. Your treatment has been planned according to current medical practices, but problems sometimes occur. Call your caregiver if you have any problems or questions after your procedure.

HOME CARE INSTRUCTIONS

  • Do not lie down for 4 hours after treatment.

  • Do not massage the treated muscles. This can cause the Botox® to spread to the muscles around the eyes, which can lead to double vision.

  • Exercise the muscles every 15 minutes for 1 hour after treatment or as directed by your caregiver. Botox® attaches better to active muscles.

  • You may put ice on the area where the shot was given.

  • Put ice in a plastic bag.

  • Place a towel between your skin and the bag.

SEEK IMMEDIATE MEDICAL CARE IF:

  • You develop double vision.

  • You start to have trouble swallowing.

  • You develop muscle weakness in other parts of your body.

  • Your pupils start to become dilated and sensitive to light.

MAKE SURE YOU:

  • Understand these instructions.

  • Will watch your condition.

  • Will get help right away if you are not doing well or get worse.
