Antibiotic Medication

ExitCare ImageAntibiotic medicine helps fight germs. Germs cause infections. This type of medicine will not work for colds, flu, or other viral infections. Tell your doctor if you:

  • Are allergic to any medicines.

  • Are pregnant or are trying to get pregnant.

  • Are taking other medicines.

  • Have other medical problems.


  • Take your medicine with a glass of water or food as told by your doctor.

  • Take the medicine as told. Finish them even if you start to feel better.

  • Do not give your medicine to other people.

  • Do not use your medicine in the future for a different infection.

  • Ask your doctor about which side effects to watch for.

  • Try not to miss any doses. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for your next dose, and your dosing schedule is:

  • Two doses a day, take the missed dose and the next dose 5 to 6 hours later.

  • Three or more doses a day, take the missed dose and the next dose 2 to 4 hours later, or double your next dose.

  • Then go back to your normal schedule.


  • You get worse or do not get better within a few days.

  • The medicine makes you sick.

  • You develop a rash or any other side effects.

  • You have questions or concerns.


  • Understand these instructions.

  • Will watch your condition.

  • Will get help right away if you are not doing well or get worse.
